Scott Hornung —
Systems Analyst
Please introduce yourself and describe, in broad terms, what you do for Delex.
My name is Scott Hornung. I am a Systems Analyst/EA-6B Subject Matter Expert (SME) developing courseware for the Aor Combat Training System (ACTS) program at NAS Whidbey, WA. Basically, I take courseware previously developed in PowerPoint as computer-aided instruction (CAI), update the content based on current references and learning objectives, implement the courseware in PowerPoint as a storyboard, and then pass the storyboard off to the graphic artist and developer to produce.
How do you feel about your work environment?
I feel good about my work environment. It is accommodating and production-oriented.
What skills have you learned or developed at Delex?
I have learned a production process for developing quality Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) -compliant courseware, consistent with current interactive courseware (ICW) style guide requirements. In addition, I have learned Instructional System Designer (ISD) professional requirements for the development of courseware that provides the highest likelihood that proper learning will occur.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment at Delex?
Converting existing CAI into ICW that consistently meets the customers' expectations. On a less formal note, my greatest off-duty Delex accomplishment was the successful deployment of crab pots for the 2002 Delex crabbing event, ensuring lunch included more than the sub sandwiches provided by the doubters.
